Trista brings a lifetime of farming and teaching experience to CSW’s Kids and Food practice: from her grandmother’s garden in central North Carolina to interning at her college’s agroecology site, from programming work at Oregon’s pioneering Food Alliance to WWOOFing in Chile and owning her own vegetable farm in Rappahannock County, Virginia. In 2004 she helped establish and became the first director of Farm to Table, a community partnership to provide Rappahannock schools with school gardens and agriculture education. And in 2011 she was recruited to serve as the school district’s nutrition services director, bringing her passion for healthy food and nutrition education to school breakfasts and lunches. Trista earned her bachelor’s degree in English with minors in biology and sustainable development from Appalachian State University.
